Dattaraj Deshpande was born on 13-06-1985 as the eldest son of Mrs. and Mr. Ashokrao Deshpande in the village of Mulmuttal in Karnataka. At the age of eight, he left modern education in the second grade and started studying his own branch ‘Rigveda’ according to the tradition of oral study in Gurukul. From 1993 to 2004, during the eleven years of Gurukul residence, he completed the entire Rigveda, Ashwalayan Prayogavidhan, Shaunakokta Rigvidhan and Sanskrit literature studies and is currently working as a ‘Rigveda teacher’ in the Vedapathshala affiliated to Shri Manik Prabhu Sansthan. Due to touring various provinces of states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka during his Vedic studies, he is acquainted with various traditions. He is proficient in eight languages - Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi and English and likes to compose poetry and story literature in his mother tongue (Kannada).
